A Place to Call Home - The TLC for Homeless Families

Crisis Ministries is excited to announce the creation of the Transitional Living Center (TLC) for Homeless Families. Funding for the land and construction of this four-bedroom home is possible through a partnership with the Charleston Bank Consortium and with funding from the South Carolina Housing Trust, the City of Charleston and community donors.  The TLC will provide homeless families with a place to call home while they plan a return to community-based housing.

The location on E Street, just one block from Crisis Ministries' main shelter and Family Center, ensures that families can continue to receive essential services while developing skills for independent living.  The TLC will provide parents and children with a place to call home and a safe environment in which they may heal, grow and stabilize.

The TLC will provide:

• a bedroom and bath for 4 families

• a shared kitchen and laundry room

• an office for Family Counselor/Supervisor

In addition to healthcare and clinical services provided to Crisis Ministries clients, TLC guests will particularly focus on parenting, life management, budgeting and home management counseling components.

Construction costs are covered.  However, before families can move in, furniture, supplies and resources for essential utilities must be established.

To make a donation to the TLC for Homeless Families, please email or call Nicole Bulone, Director of Annual Giving, at 723.9477, x 139.
