Homelessness
is a real concern

WHAT CAUSES HOMELESSNESS?
At Crisis Ministries, we have seen that homelessness is the end result of other problems, including the rising costs of housing and health care, mental or physical illness, job loss and spouse abuse.

Besides the data we collect locally, we have found some interesting online information about the root causes of homelessness and what can be done to help. Several Web sites we use are listed below:

www.nhchc.org - National Healthcare for the Homeless Council

www.nationalhomeless.org - National Coalition for the Homeless (a great site for basic information and data)

www.endhomelessness.org - National Alliance to End Homelessness (facts, advocacy information)

www.abanet.org/homeless/home.php - American Bar Association Commission on Homelessness and Poverty (information about legal action to help the very poor)

www.nlchp.org - National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty (describes legal efforts to end homelessness)

Over 40% of homeless people seeking
shelter at Crisis Ministries are
women and children.
