Breaking
the cycle of poverty

MISSION

Crisis Ministries provides food, shelter and hope to end homelessness and hunger one person at a time, one family at a time.

MINISTRY at Crisis Ministries

Ministry is seen and felt at the shelter every day.  Five meals a day are prepared and served by volunteers, the vast majority of whom are members of a church or religious organization.  In addition, volunteers offer group and individual prayers, bible studies, musical performances and other ministry practices to participating guests.  Chaplains from a variety of faiths volunteer for individualized counseling with guests through case worker referrals.  Area churches provide vans to transport guests to Saturday and Sunday worship services.

Spiritual health is a key component to the overall success of guests.  However, as a barrier-free shelter, we do not require that guests participate in religious activities.  In order to provide assistance to the greatest number of our community's most desperate citizens, we offer voluntary religious activities and do not provide housing, healthcare, employment or other material inducements as a means of persuading people to adopt or convert to a religion.

The invaluable contributions of religious donors and volunteers are received with grateful appreciation.

and just 315 available beds at shelters.
